How to Choose a Tri Suit for an IRONMAN Race
For a full-distance race, your tri suit needs to remain comfortable across the swim, a long aero position, varied weather and a marathon run. The right decision comes from testing, not from choosing the most technical suit by default.

Match the suit to your goal
Consider your target, previous long-course experience and how confident you are in a close race fit. TEMPO! PRO is built for athletes seeking maximum aerodynamic performance. TEMPO! ONE supports competitive age-group racing. TEMPO! TWO balances speed with comfort and accessible storage. TEMPO! THREE supports newer long-course athletes who want a practical, confidence-building suit.
Four things to test
- Comfort in the aero position after two or more hours.
- Nutrition access while riding and running.
- Heat, sun and rain readiness for your likely conditions.
- Chafing points during a brick workout.
Use the race suit in training
At least one key brick should use the complete suit, nutrition, socks and shoes you intend to race in. This is when you discover if a pocket bounces, a seam rubs or a fit changes when the fabric is wet.
